Misava is pleased to announce the confirmation of a major awaruite-hosted nickel discovery at its 100%-owned Vusizi Nickel Project, located in the Vusizi Hills of the Giyani Greenstone Belt, Limpopo Province.
This marks Africa’s first known discovery of a smelter-free, naturally magnetic nickel system, positioning Misava at the forefront of clean, ESG-aligned critical mineral development on the continent.
The mineralisation, hosted in serpentinised ultramafic units, contains high concentrations of awaruite (Ni₃Fe) — a nickel-iron alloy that can be processed without smelting using magnetic separation. Bench-scale studies and early fieldwork confirm the potential to produce a >60% Ni concentrate with minimal environmental impact and no sulfur emissions.
“This is a defining moment for Misava and for Africa’s role in the global energy transition,” said Mr. Topman Ngonyama, CEO of Misava. “Vusizi offers a scalable, low-carbon path to supply clean nickel for batteries, stainless steel, and strategic industries — without relying on smelting or Chinese refining infrastructure.”
Key Highlights:
• Confirmed awaruite mineralisation across multiple ultramafic target zones
• Aligned with South Africa’s Critical Minerals Strategy, EU CRM Act, and US IRA
• Eligible for offtake and funding under ESG-compliant procurement standards
• 2025 work program underway: drilling, metallurgy, and resource definition commences @ Vusizi Nickel
Misava will continue to advance the Vusizi Project through staged exploration, with the first drilling phase scheduled for April 2025.
